Ravida Din

CANADA

Ravida Din is a Renowned Canadian film producer who formerly served with the National Film Board of Canada (NFB) as Director General of English-language production. Over the past ten years she has worked as a producer/executive producer with extensive experience in the production of theatrical and television documentaries, community based media, interactive digital projects, animation and alternative drama. As head of all English-language production at the National Film Board of Canada, Din innovated radical new modes of media production by opening the doors to non-traditional creators and by insisting on grounding those productions in a feminist analysis of race, gender and class. The result was works, in traditional and digital media, that challenged, provoked and inspired. Ravida Din has a varied background in media production, management and social activism. As a producer/executive producer, she led innovation by taking on difficult works, championing new modes of media production with non-traditional creators and insisting on grounding creative work in a feminist analysis. Among her notable successes are the feature documentaries Pink Ribbons, Inc. (World Premiere, Toronto International Film Festival), which went on to become instrumental in breast cancer activist movement in North America and Payback (World Premiere, Sundance Film Festival), the first film adaptation of a non-fiction work by Margaret Atwood.
